Running a successful business requires strategy, execution, and continuous learning. Hongjun Ling, founder of Marrow, shares three essential lessons from his entrepreneurial journey:
1. “If you do things to the extreme, there will be room for development.”
Everyone who has met Mr. Ling knows that he always faces work and life with a positive and optimistic attitude, and his laughter is hearty. As a senior technical expert in the straw machinery manufacturing industry, he is proficient in professional skills and constantly strives for excellence and lifelong learning in straw machinery manufacturing, which is truly admirable.
In an interview, he said, “The manufacturing industries of Germany and Japan are the targets that China’s manufacturing sector aims to catch up with. They are all very focused, concentrating on a narrow and specific industry segment, striving to do one thing to the best of their ability, with a strong sense of craftsmanship. If you can calm down and concentrate, even the most difficult tasks can be accomplished well. By concentrating on doing one thing to the best of your ability, you can always find a vast space for development.”
In addition, Mr. Ling also encourages all employees of the company to learn from books, society, colleagues and peers, and to foster an atmosphere that loves learning and respects knowledge within the company.
2. “For mechanical products, original ideas are very important.”
As one of the first generation of straw mechanical designers in China, Mr Ling, with his professional skills, dares to innovate and leads the development of this industry. He has developed many new products in the straw machinery manufacturing industry and has done a lot of work for the production capacity and efficiency of this industry.
In the straw machinery equipment industry, Nanjing Marrow Machinery has accumulated 2 authorized invention patents and 46 utility model patents. Currently, there are 5 invention patents and multiple utility model patents in the formulation stage.
Mr. Ling said that in the future, Nanjing Marrow Machinery will devote more energy to the field of technological innovation.
3. “By leveraging my technical advantages, I provide customers with services that others don’t have. They benefit from it and give me feedback, which makes them very happy.”
In the early days of the straw machinery and equipment industry, many services were inadequate. However, Mr. Ling single-handedly changed many rules of the game within the industry.
Because the products sell well, many services are paid. Our company, Maiou Machinery, has changed this situation and provides free services to customers throughout the process. Ling Hongjun even utilized his technical advantages and years of industry experience to sort out a large amount of materials for the possible problems that may occur during the use of the equipment. He also strengthened professional terms into a popular science form, allowing ordinary employees to understand and helping customers solve problems in a popular science way. Over the years, our company, Maiou Machinery, has driven the development of domestic enterprises with assets of millions, tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions.
Ling Hongjun said, “When I think back on all this, I’m really happy. Maybe it’s also a bit sad. But when the client recognizes you, benefits from it and gives you feedback, I’m really very happy and excited.”
